CCSA FATHER’S DAY CRUISE

On Sunday morning, a crew of Corvette Club of SA members arrived at Caltex Bolivar with their Corvettes. After a greeting to all and with the appropriate paperwork completed, the trip captain passed on his instructions to the crew. After leaving the Caltex Service Station, the line of Vettes made their way north along Pt Wakefield Road and on to the Gawler Expressway, before turning on to Horrocks Highway and heading north towards Saddleworth.

Although the weather was a little cool with just a small amount of rain, the cruise went smoothly enough, making for a comfortable run in the Corvettes. The crew was momentarily held up by cyclists along the way but got past easily enough – as Corvettes are disposed to do. In good time, the Corvettes rolled into Saddleworth, turning quite a few heads as the V8s rumbled through town before parking in front of the Gilbert Valley Hotel. We all know that a Corvette will draw admiring glances, and even more so when they arrive in a group. Kids in particular love to look and wave.

The timing of the day-cruise proved perfect, as it coincided with the holding of the monthly local market. Shopping was the order of the day, proving to be great fun with plenty to see and buy. It was then time to head back to the hotel for lunch. Although there was a bit of a wait for the food, it proved to be worth the wait – boy, what a meal. Great conversation and laughter filled the small hotel as everyone relaxed and enjoyed the food and each other’s company.

With all the fun, time passed too quickly, and it was suddenly time to leave. The trip captain suggested a continuation of the cruise through Clare, Blythe, Balaklava and Mallala, where the crew stopped for a break. After saying their goodbyes, everyone headed for home. Another successful outing by the members of this well organised club.
